Océ Arizona 365: control board replaced, ink converted to Lipla

An Océ Arizona 365 at a print shop in Anaheim, California. It would not run and would not initialize — no movement, no start-up sequence.

The board

The fault was in the printhead control board. It was replaced, and the printer came up and initialized on the first attempt afterwards.

Maintenance, while the machine was open

A machine that has been standing dead is a machine whose heads have been standing full. With the carriage already apart, the heads were flushed, cleaned and dried before anything was printed through them. Doing that on the same visit is what keeps a control board repair from turning into a printhead order two weeks later.

The ink conversion

The ink system was then converted from the OEM ink to Lipla. The conversion is a full change of what is in the machine — lines and heads flushed out, the new ink brought through, then printing until the channels read clean.

Where it stands

The printer is running on Lipla ink and printing to test. Three jobs on one visit — the board, the maintenance and the conversion — because each of them needs the same machine open in the same place.
